Business Development Manager

Industry leading manufacturer of custom display fixtures and POP for the retail industry. Using retail science, they add value to their customers whilst maintain exceptional quality and service levels. Their clientele includes major supermarkets, high street retailers and leading brands.

Job Role

  • Responsible and accountable for developing and executing new business strategies to deliver growth
  • Accountable for new business development, negotiations and commercial contracts in line with budgeted revenue
  • Identify, develop and convert new profitable customer opportunities and grow market share
  • Develop and manage a robust qualified pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Understand customers challenges and pressures, and develop smart solutions that meet their needs
  • Secure meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers within identified target customers
  • Write and deliver high quality pitches and tender responses to clearly articulate the company’s value proposition
  • Perform the role of “Bid Manager” on all opportunities that have been pre-qualified, acting as the voice of the customer back into the business
  • Execute a seamless handover to the Account Management team at the point of secured order
  • Provide robust, detailed and accurate forecasts (revenue and margin) in line with reporting timetable that are realistic and can withstand scrutiny and challenge
  • Work closely with all internal departments and colleagues to build strong, collaborative relationships
  • Working with the Commercial Manager, develop and share market intelligence and competitor knowledge to enable the company to secure maximum profit
  • Continually develop in partnership with internal departments the company’s offering to the marketplace
  • Demonstrate understanding of, and buy-in to, the company’s vision, mission and values by exemplifying the core competencies and behaviours

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of selling solutions to the Retail, Brands, Convenience, Distributors and Services (Installation) sectors
  • Degree calibre education or equivalent
  • Proven track record of new business delivery and account growth
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing strong and robust relationships with multi contact points within a customer
  • Ability to plan, organise, communicate and manage customer relationships
  • Knowledge of business development/account management principles and their implementation within the Retail, Brands, Convenience, Distributors and Services sectors
  • Driven, energetic and professionally ambitious with a strong sense of urgency
  • Self-starter, independent and self-sufficient
