About

Our client is a design agency that specialises in retail and branding. Their talented and hard-working team delivers high-quality retail interior and architectural design, retail graphics and brand identity projects to a variety of well-known blue-chip clients.

Now looking to add a Finance / Commercial Operations Director to the team. You will play a key role in overseeing the company’s HR, Finance and Resource Planning functions. Providing strategic and financial guidance to our client and ensuring that the organisation’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.

Job Role

  • You will work closely alongside the Managing Director and board of directors, reporting on revenue and providing forecasting information and other financial updates when required
  • Providing strategic and financial guidance to our client and ensuring that the organisation’s financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Helping department leads to prepare and manage budgets
  • Focus on improving the company’s profitability and efficiency
  • Analyse team reports and spot areas for improvement
  • Propose new initiatives and implement improvements
  • Support the MD and Accountants in improving the company’s figures, tax plan and how they use reserves effectively

Skills and Experience

  • Around 3-5 years working in a similar role, at a similar level
  • Experience within an SME in the creative industry would be highly advantageous
  • Experience using project management software would be a big plus
  • A wide range of financial and operational expertise, with the ability to interpret complex financial information
  • Passionate about driving growth, proactive in seeking out opportunities to grow the business
  • Experience assisting with company-wide budgetary planning
  • Process-driven with sound problem-solving skills
  • Happy to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to share knowledge and support other members of the finance team
  • A strong understanding of business principles and best practices
