Our client is a well-established design, manufacturing and installation business based in Yorkshire, specialising in bespoke retail and exhibition displays. They provide end-to-end solutions, from creative design and in-house manufacturing through to installation, working across areas including point-of-sale displays, window and in-store installations, signage, digital print and bespoke display projects.
Our client is looking for an experienced Estimator to produce accurate, commercially competitive quotations for bespoke retail displays, fixtures, signage and manufacturing projects.
Working across a range of in-house production capabilities—including joinery, acrylic fabrication, spray finishing, print and print finishing—you will play a key role in ensuring projects are accurately costed, commercially viable and smoothly transferred into production.
Job Role
Review client briefs, drawings and specifications to understand project requirements.
Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for new projects.
Calculate material, labour, machinery, finishing, packaging and delivery costs.
Obtain and assess pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Work closely with sales, design, purchasing and production teams throughout the quoting process.
Identify missing information, cost risks and potential production issues before quotations are submitted.
Recommend alternative materials or manufacturing methods where these can improve cost efficiency.
Ensure quotations meet required profit margins and commercial targets.
Revise quotations in line with changes to designs, specifications or client requirements.
Provide a clear and accurate handover to production once projects are confirmed.
Compare estimated costs against actual project costs to improve future estimating accuracy.
Previous estimating experience within joinery, shopfitting, retail displays, signage, print or manufacturing.
Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods and production processes.
Confident reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Strong numerical skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to costing.
Commercially aware, with a good understanding of costs, margins and profitability.
Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across different departments.
